Activity Conversion 6.1 Instructions
Hopefully this program is intuitive and doesn’t require a lot of head-scratching or colorful language. If it is a nuisance, email your complaints and/or suggestions to email@example.com.
The program starts with Activity and Dose conversions. The white boxes and white buttons are what you select. On the left, enter the numeric value then select the units. To calculate Specific Activities, you can select mass and volume units on the bottom. If there are none, select “none.”
As you make selections, the program automatically calculates the results. This result will be displayed in the red box.
A new addition to this program is decay calculations. To use this, select the Decay Calculations choice from the File menu.
File | Decay Calculation
Use the drop down box of radionuclides or type in the nuclide (such as P-32). Once you hit tab and move to the time interval box, the radionuclde and its half-life will be displayed in the red boxes. In the white box, enter the interval and select the button. The program will automatically calculate the radioactivity in the units you have selected.
For those in the industry that perform analysis of a container and then want to determine the total activity within the container, select the Total Activity choice from the File menu
File | Total Activity
Enter the numeric portion of liquid or mass and the proper units. The total activity, in the units that you have selected in the upper right, will be provided.
For those occasions when you are provided with the total activity in a container and want to determine the specific activity within the container, select the Back Calculate choice from the File menu
File | Back Calculate
Enter the numeric portion of liquid or mass and the proper units. The specific activity, in the units that you have selected to the right, will be provided.
This program is FREEWARE. You are free to use it on as many computers as you wish. You can also give it to anyone you wish. I don’t care. You are not, however, allowed to make any money off this program. That would be just plain rude.
