The ALARA Review.  Facilities licensed to have radioactive materials and registered to have x-ray machines must develop and implement a written program to maintain radiation doses and releases of radioactive materials to the environment as low as reasonably achievable.  This program requires the participation of the management, the RSO and all users of the radioactive material and the x-ray machines.  The ALARA program shall include an annual review by the RSO.  The review needs to include a summary of the types, amounts and purposes of the radiation used; occupational dose reports; training of any new authorized users; and, methods to reduce exposures.  The purpose of this review is to ensure that individuals make every reasonable effort to maintain occupational doses, doses to the public, and releases to the environment, as low as reasonably achievable.
